His Greatness Cannot be Questioned

Whose greatness? I can see the wheels turning in your head. Tom Brady’s, of course.

Tom Brady is returning to Houston in two weeks to play in his 49th Super Bowl. That’s right, his 49th! Okay, I’m exaggerating but it doesn’t really seem that far off. Look, I understand that some people love to hate Brady and the Patriots. I mean, whatever you want to do. But any person who names any name but Tom Brady as the greatest quarterback of all-time is not only foolish, but also has no idea what the hell they’re talking about.

People say the Patriots cheat. People say he’s always had a team around him. People say he’s always played under the greatest coach of all-time. But people fail to realize the excuses they keep making. Tom Brady has NOT always had a team around him. Remember those years in which the Patriots had no idea what they would be getting on defense? Did you forget that Gronk is OUT? The Patriots have easily won their two playoff games without that monster of a tight end. Oh, and did you forget that guys like Chris Hogan and Dion Lewis have come out of nowhere to be major factors on the Patriots?

Let me guess what some might say now. He also has the best front office in the league, right? THAT actually wouldn’t be a crazy statement to make. This is coming from a die hard Texans fan who can’t trust my front office to do ANYTHING right, besides JJ. Look, Tom Brady has been nothing but dominant since the day he took over the starting job. And he’s done it all during a more difficult era of football than ever before. I mean, just as a result of realignment in 2002 the newly created fourth divisions in each conference eliminated one playoff spot. All of his seasons have consisted of 16 games, whereas a few of the other all-time great QBs only had to play 14. And of course the most obvious is that there are now thirty-two teams in the league, and 6 make the playoffs in each conference.

His numbers are ridiculous. But more ridiculous than his numbers is that he wins. Like the song, all he does is win. And that is why he’s the greatest of all-time. He’s won more than any other QB, and it’s not going to be close once he’s finished.

I dare you to tell me someone else is the greatest QB of all-time.

Snapchat Venturing Into Live Sports

And I have no interest in anything they’ll be offering. If you use the mobile social network, then you’re already familiar with its “Our Story” feature. It’s basically where individual snaps and videos are posted from big events. For example, I’ve seen New York Fashion Week, the Arnold Sports Festival, and the Oscars. But now they want more.

Rumor has it that the first live sports event to be covered this way will be this year’s NCAA Final Four. And all snaps and videos will still come from users. But what I’m not understanding is how this is a change from what they already do. I’ve seen snaps and videos in the “Our Story” feature from the World Series, BCS Championship, and Super Bowl. All from fans.

I think what may be different now is that there will be a legitimate deal in place with the leagues to feature particular events. I honestly have no idea. What I do know is that I’d much rather watch the games or matches of any event live on TV than see ten second bits and pieces on Snapchat. That isn’t the way to watch sports.

An Intro to Moi

This is my first post on this blog, but no, I am not new to WordPress. I’m a seasoned vet on the WordPress team. See what I did there? Seasoned vet…sports blog. You didn’t catch it? Okay. Moving on. The question that all “new” bloggers ask themselves is why am I starting this blog thing? I’ll tell you.

I have another very well-established blog that’s all about books. Everything you can think of. Writing. Reading. Publishing. Buying. Just any possible thing you can think of about books. And honestly, it’s because I love that stuff. I love interacting with other bloggers who share the same interests as I do. But I love sports quite a bit more. It’s really not even close.

See, I learned during my middle and high school years that I loved reading. But I knew way before that about my obsession with sports. I’m not just your casual fan who watches the major events like the Super Bowl and the World Series. No, I’m the guy who gets into arguments over who the greatest tennis player of all-time really is (Federer). I’m the guy who argues about draft needs. I’m the guy who takes sports way too seriously…and I’m okay with that.

You’re probably wondering now what you might expect here, right? Well, just about everything. I’ll write about all things baseball, football, basketball, and tennis-related. If you don’t watch tennis, then you’re missing out on some of the best players to ever play. Seriously. And I might mix in a little golf every once in a while too.

Also, I’m from Houston and am die hard when it comes to our teams. The Texans just had their second ever Defensive Player of the Year, the Rockets have an MVP frontrunner in James Harden, and the Astros have had a great offseason. My teams are all headed in the right direction and I’m loving every minute of it. But this blog is not only about those teams. I’ll talk about everything.

So stick around and have a chat with me. I won’t yell too much.
